About us
Boy Scout Council for Kansas City and the surrounding 19 counties in Western MO. and Eastern KS. Serving over 16,000 youth and over 8,000 adult volunteers. The Boy Scouts of America (BSA), was incorporated on February 8, 1910, and chartered by congress in 1916. Its purpose is to provide young adults an effective educational program designed to build desirable qualities of character, to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship and to develop in them personal fitness. Community groups such as religious, educational, civic, fraternal, business, labor, governmental bodies, corporations, professional associations, and groups of citizens who have compatible goals and utilize the program provided accomplish the purpose by the Boy Scouts of America on the local level.

Camp Naish is getting a BIG upgrade this summer! Slated for completion by the 2024 summer camping season, our state-of-the-art Leadership Lab is the newest learning tool for Scouts at Camp Naish. A first of its kind experiential structure – the Lab is a multipurpose outdoor training complex that includes a conference space, bunkhouse, and full kitchen. The space was also designed to help our Scoutreach program as a resource to introduce Scouts to the great outdoors. Special thanks to our Properties Committee, Capital Campaign Leadership and the Sunderland Foundation, Hall Family Foundation and Capital Federal for helping fund this project and bringing this dream to life.

An Independence Scout is being honored after he put the lessons he learned in Scouting into action. While on vacation with his family in Hawaii, Webelos Scout Alexander T. heard a woman scream for help while at the beach swimming. Alexander was already in the water and without hesitation made his way to where the cries for help originated. Despite being in shallow water and able to stand, Alexander quickly learned that the woman had a cramp, could not swim and was dangerously close to the undertow. Alexander remained calm and was later able to bring the woman to shore safely. Because of his heroic actions, Alexander, now a Scout in Troop 1865, was presented the BSA's Heroism Award during a special Court of Honor at St. Marks Catholic Church. Congratulations Alexander for your quick thinking and for being a great example of what a Scout truly is! #scouting #heroism #beascout #preparedforlife
