Southwestern College Professional Studies to Honor Two Alumni at the First Annual Alumni Awards Reception

Wichita, KS — Tuesday, April 30, 2013: Southwestern College Professional Studies (SCPS) will present awards for alumni who have excelled in their professional endeavors. The Outstanding Professional Studies Alumni Award and the Lifetime Learner Award will be awarded to two alumni at a special reception at the Wichita East location. The two alumni being honored were nominated by their peers, and selected for their advocacy of SCPS, contributions to their community, measurable success in their industry, and a demonstrated commitment to both their own education and that of others.

On Friday, May 10, Gregory Cole will be presented the SCPS Outstanding Professional Studies Alumni Award. A resident of Wichita, Cole graduated in 1994 with an Associates in Education, and in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. In May 2010 Cole earned a Master of Science in Leadership from SCPS. Cole is the owner of Good Life Company, LLC. and he’s a Certified Civic Leadership Coach for Kansas Leadership Center. He also teaches Hospitality and Culinary Arts classes for Butler Community College.

Tom Prunier, Derby, will be presented the Lifetime Learner Award. Prunier has demonstrated a commitment to his own education and the education of others as an affiliate instructor for SCPS. He graduated from SCPS in May 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Operations Technology, then earned a Master of Arts in Information Technology Management from Webster University in 2004 and a Doctor of Computer Science in 2012 from Colorado Technical University. Tom has been an affiliate instructor at SCPS since 2004.

In addition to receiving the alumni awards, Cole and Prunier will be guest speakers at the Southwestern College graduate Commencement ceremony at the main campus in Winfield on Sunday, May 5.
