OLATHE, Kan., April 26, 2013 – The Olathe Chamber of Commerce will present the second event in its 2013 Business Lunch Series, “Travel & Tourism,” Friday, May 10. The luncheon will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Olathe’s newest hotel, the Hilton Garden Inn, 12080 S. Strang Line Rd., and will feature a panel discussion focused on some of the efforts underway throughout Olathe and the KC metro aimed at attracting visitors and enhancing tourism. This luncheon is being held in conjunction with National Travel and Tourism week.

Panelists will discuss two topics of interest in our region right now pertaining to travel and tourism – air transportation and a new full-service hotel. Tom McKenna, director of marketing for the Kansas City Aviation Department, will be on hand to address the proposal to replace Kansas City International Airport’s three terminals with a single terminal, and Damen Trebilcock, vice president of development for Heart of America Group, will discuss plans for the new 200-room hotel and conference center coming to Olathe. Richard Hughes, president and CEO for the Kansas City Convention & Visitor’s Association, will serve as moderator.

Sponsored by Johnson County Community College, Hilton Garden Inn and McCownGordon Construction, this lunch is the second in a series of four the Chamber hosts throughout the year. Future luncheon topics include “bioscience” on Sept. 6 and “regionalism” on Nov. 8.

The cost is $25 a person for members and $40 for future members. Corporate tables of eight are also available for $300 and $400 respectively. RSVP at olathe.org. For additional information, contact Sara Misemer at smisemer@olathe.org or at (913) 764-1050.
