Elecsys will produce electronic assemblies for Reinke Manufacturing
From the Kansas City Business Journal, July 7, 2009
Elecsys Corp. has entered into an agreement to provide electronic design and manufacturing services for Reinke Manufacturing Co. The deal could add about $1 million to Elecsys’ annual revenue.
The agreement calls for Elecsys (Nasdaq: ESYS) to producr electronics for Reinke’s products. Deschler, Neb.-based Reinke produces equipment such as irrigation systems, intermodal containers, aluminum flatbeds and steel/aluminum drop deck trailers.
Elecsys mainly will focus on producing the electronics that drive Reinke’s irrigation systems, controlling it’s movement across a crop and monitoring to ensure it functions properly. Elecsys also will develop future products that could include items such as ground-moisture monitoring devices that let the irrigation system know what areas require more or less water.
Elecsys said in a release Tuesday that Reinke has bought more than $1 million of electronic assemblies in the past 12 months from a variety of sources and that the agreement with Elecsys enables Reinke to consolidate the production at one source.
“We have already begun the integration of new assemblies into our production system and initiated work on several new design products that should move into production in the near future,” Elecsys CEO Karl Gemperli said in the release. “Adding Reinke as a business partner expands our penetration into the global agricultural market and further diversifies our customer base.”
