OLATHE, Kan. --- Terracon Consultants, Inc. is pleased to announce the acquisition of AMEC Earth & Environmental Inc.’s (AMEC) Construction Services Group in Redmond, Wash. The office will operate as part of Terracon, and focus on construction materials engineering and testing, which is one of
Terracon’s core service offerings nationwide. Only the Redmond location is now part of Terracon, one of the nation’s largest employee-owned engineering consulting firms with headquarters in Olathe, Kan.
The acquisition allows the company to further expand its services to local and national clients, and increases Terracon’s presence in Washington, which includes offices in Seattle, Bellevue and Tacoma.
“With more than 30 years of local experience performing Special Inspections and construction materials engineering and testing services, the Redmond office has an excellent regional history and reputation,” said David Gaboury, P.E., Terracon’s president and chief executive officer. “We are excited to offer our clients construction materials engineering and testing services in addition to our geotechnical and environmental expertise.”
Services now offered by Terracon’s Redmond office include construction quality control/quality assurance testing and Special Inspections during construction, construction materials engineering evaluation, design and consulting and condition assessment and forensic investigations of in-place materials and structures. The firm is retaining the employees.
While part of AMEC, the Redmond office was selected to be the Special Inspections agency for a number of the Puget Sound area’s high-profile projects, including The Seattle Sheraton expansion, The Bravern and Washington Square. In addition, laboratory testing and Special Inspection services have been provided for school districts, local and state government, mixed use projects and retail and commercial developments. Redmond’s construction materials testing
laboratory is certified by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA), the Washington Association of Building Officials (WABO) and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO).
Tyler McCormick, business unit manager when the group was part of AMEC, will be Terracon’s Redmond office manager. “We will continue to be committed to providing quality-based and timely service to maximize benefits to our clients,” McCormick said. “We are excited to be a part of Terracon.”
