Presenting Six Kansas City Area Premiere Musicals and Musical Comedies
Brad Zimmermann, Founder and Executive Director of The Chestnut Fine Arts Theatre, 234 North Chestnut in Olathe, announced that tickets for the theatre’s 11th season and season renewals are available now by calling the theatre box office at 913-764-2121. The 2009-2010 season will feature six musical comedies, each a brand new show and each a Kansas City area stage premiere.
“SMOKE ON THE MOUNTAIN HOMECOMING”, September 24th through October 25, 2009. The Kansas City premiere of this brand new show will open the Chestnut Theatre’s 2009-2010 season. Rated G
“A TAFFETA CHRISTMAS”, November 12th through December 20, 2009; a Kansas City area premiere, it’s the new holiday sequel to the Chestnut’s highly popular “The Taffetas. Rated G.
“MOON RIVER – JOHNNY MERCER’S AMERICAN SONGBOOK”, February 4th through March 7, 2010; a salute to Johnny Mercer and his music; a Kansas City stage premiere. Rated G.
“AIN’T SHE SWEET – DIXIELAND AND RAGTIME”, April 1st though May 2, 2010. A Kansas City premiere with a Dixieland Band and four talented vocalists in this musical extravaganza. Rated G
“LEADING MEN OF BROADWAY”, May 20th through June 20, 2010. This Kansas City premiere presents a musical tribute to Broadway’s greatest leading men and their music”. Rated G.
“LET FREEEDOM RING”, July 8th through August 8, 2010, a Kansas City premiere and a sparkling musical tribute and salute to America! It’s an up-lifting and inspiring show featuring great American music. Rated G
Two shows remain in the current season: “BABES IN HOLLYWOOD - THE MUSIC OF JUDY GARLAND AND MICKEY ROONEY” now playing through June 21 – and “HOW TO EAT LIKE A CHILD” July 9 through August 2; both shows are rated “G”.
Tickets for the 2009-2010 season are: adults $102.00 (discounts for seniors and groups).
