The Chestnut Fine Arts Center and Theatre, 234 North Chestnut in Olathe, will hold two very different theatre workshops for children ages 6 to 15 this summer.
Workshop number one titled “KIDS ON BROADWAY” will be June 13-17 with sessions from 9 a.m. until 12 Noon each day and workshop number two titled “HOORAY FOR HOLLYWOOD” will be held July 20-24, with sessions also from 9 a.m. until 12 Noon each day. Cost for each workshop (per child) is $125.00 and children can register for one or both. Past children’s summer workshops have filled quickly so early reservations are advised.
The workshops will focus on the aspects of theatre and film including scripts, music, songs, dance, preparing sets and performance. Each of the two workshops will conclude with a 30-minute production featuring the students (included in the workshop fee) and open at no charge to friends and family who would like to attend.
Brad Zimmerman, Executive Director and founder of the Chestnut Fine Arts Center and Theatre will conduct the sessions along with guest instructors. Zimmerman added “This summer we are going to have two entirely different children’s theatre workshops, the first about Broadway and stage productions, the second about Hollywood and films.”
For information and/or to register children, call the Chestnut Theatre at 913-764-2121.
