The Miracle League of Olathe, Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundataion & Variety KC to break ground at future site of Olathe Miracle League Field

Olathe, KS – The Miracle League of Olathe is set to break ground at the future site of the Miracle League of Olathe Field in Olathe, KS.  The groundbreaking will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24 at the College Boulevard Activity Center, 11031 S. Valley Rd. in Olathe. The Miracle League Field is specifically designed to meet the needs of children with physical and intellectual disabilities. 

The Miracle League of Olathe is a joint effort and long-time passion of original sponsors The Olathe Medical Center, The Olathe Public Schools, Strickland Construction, the City of Olathe and the Olathe Chamber of Commerce. This project is also part of the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation’s National Youth Development Park Initiative. The Foundation’s goal is to develop unique, multi-purpose fields that will provide cohesive recreational and educational experiences for underserved young people across the United States. With plans to build 50 fields in five years, the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation currently has 15 Youth Development Parks actively in use and numerous on-going projects throughout the country.   The Ripken Foundation, in partnership with the Royals Charities, The Miracle League of Olathe and Variety Kansas City, helped raise funds towards the development of the project.

Speakers at the groundbreaking include Royals President Dan Glass and 2011 American League All-Star Billy Butler.  Additionally, comments will be made by Mayor Pro-Tem of Olathe, Jim Randall and representatives from the Miracle League of Olathe, Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation and Variety.

Devocelle, President/CEO of Olathe Medical Center.  “From the first moment our leadership and our Board members viewed the video about the Miracle League, we were committed to helping make it happen in our community.”
